4616 Melrose Place, otherwise known simply as Melrose Place, is the titular apartment complex on Melrose Place.

About[]

According to DVD commentary of the original series, there were only three sets (with three separate floor plans) for all of the apartments in the original Melrose Place series, with furniture (as well as the kitchen cabinets and countertop styles) being rearranged as needed to represent the different characters' apartments. It is likely that fourth walls and mini facades were used whenever needed to hide this.

There was Floor Plan A which was located in apartment #3 (which is why most of the window shots out into the courtyard from this set were taped from Alison's apartment, because it was the most accurate angle). In this floor plan, the fireplace is to the left of the front door from the inside.

The Melrose Place complex, as seen in the 2009 revival of the series.

Floor Plan B was located in apartment #5 (which is why most of the window shots out into the courtyard from this set were taped from Jane's apartment, because it was the most accurate angle). In this floor plan, the fireplace is to the right of the front door from the inside.

Finally, there was Floor Plan C, used only for apartment #4. Apartment #4 was Rhonda's apartment, then Amanda's apartment, and then Lexi's apartment. Apartment 4 transformed from a studio apartment in Season 1 into a 1-bedroom apartment in Seasons 2-7.

While Apartment 1 appears to use Floorplan A, it actually reverses the positioning of the dining room and the kitchen, and can look directly out into the courtyard, suggesting that this apartment actually had its own set, even if it was not a full one.

By the fifth season of the original Melrose Place series, the interiors of the apartments had been painted a beige color.

The set for Melrose Place was changed significantly for the spin-off, with renovations being a possible explanation.

Apartment 1[]

Floor Plan: A*
Bedrooms: 1
Counters: Maroon and blue/green tiles
Cabinets: Covered
Fireplace: Shelves on both sides
Jake Hanson lived here alone in apartment 1 for most of the series, occasionally moving other people in with him such as his brother Jess Hanson, Sydney Andrews Mancini Field (Jane Mancini's sister and Michael Mancini's ex-wife #2/ex-sister-in-law, wife of the late Craig Fields), and later, Alison Parker until she moved to Atlanta, Georgia. It is unknown whether or not Alison was married to Hayley Armstrong when Alison moved to Atlanta, Georgia. When Jake left, Taylor McBride took the place until Taylor moved in with Michael. Finally, Dr. Michael Mancini moved here when Michael split up with Jane Mancini (Michael Mancini's ex-wife #1, Sydney Andrews Mancini Fields's sister) in Season 7.

*While this set appears to use Floorplan A, the kitchen and dining room are swapped, suggesting this set was actually unique.

Spin-off: Apartments 1 and 5 are the same apartment. Auggie is shown to be living in this apartment, which is now located right of the entrance, where apartment 2 was in the original series. Auggie left the series in the middle of the first season, leaving the apartment vacant for Drew Preagen to move in. The apartment is not consistent with the exterior location of the front door in the courtyard. The apartment has one bedroom and has a large window to the left of the front door when looking from the inside, with dark green cupboards. The apartment was originally painted yellow, but midway through the first season various walls were painted green.

Apartment 2[]

2

Apartment 2

Floor Plan: B
Bedrooms: 1
Counters: Pinkish brown cover
Cabinets: Covered
Fireplace: Shelves on both sides
Apartment 2 doesn't match the shape of apartment 3. Apartment 3 has 2 bedrooms and the bedrooms in apartment 3 would invade apartment 2 bedroom, bathroom and even part of the kitchen. Matt's boyfriend, Alan Ross, moved in for a large part of season 4 before Alan and Matt broke up. Alan married Valerie Madison and Valerie and Alan left the original Melrose Place. During season 5, Michael Mancini briefly moved in when he and Kimberly Shaw Mancini (Dr Michael Mancini's ex-wife #3) divorced and he left the beach house in which Kimberly (Dr Michael Mancini's ex-wife #3) and Michael had shared. Matt occupied apartment 2 until Matt's niece Chelsea moved into Matt's apartment (Matt is Chelsea's uncle). Kimberly (Dr Michael Mancini's ex-wife #3) blew up apartment 2 in the beginning of the fourth season. After Matt Fielding left at the beginning of Season 6, Brett Cooper moved in. Brett Cooper took his ex-wife Lexi in to live with him until Brett left to move in with Megan in apartment 5. Lexi stayed here alone until Peter bought Lexi a condo of her own, and eventually Dr. Peter Burns moved in, later to be joined by his new wife Eve in Season 7. Later, Eve lived here alone (when Peter left Eve for Amanda) until Eve was institutionalized. It is speculated that apartment #2 was vacant until the end of the original Melrose Place.

Spin-off: Apartments 2 and 3 are the same apartment.

Apartment 3[]

Apartment 3

Floor Plan: A
Bedrooms: 2
Counters: Maroon and blue/green tiles
Cabinets: Covered
Fireplace: Shelves on both sides
Alison Parker (later became Alison Parker Armstrong after she married Hayley Armstrong, Brooke's father and became Brooke's stepmom) lived here in apartment 3 with Alison's roommate Natalie Miller until Natalie Miller moved out and Billy Campbell moved into Alison's apartment in the original pilot episode. It is speculated that Natalie Miller was unseen in the original pilot of the original Melrose Place series, except Natalie Miller leaving the original Melrose Place apartment building. Alison and Billy lived here (Alison and Billy almost got married in season 2 but Alison learned that her father molested her and she ran away from the wedding) until Billy moved out, with Alison's old college friend Susan briefly moving in. Susan and Billy starting dating and Alison became an alcoholic. Alison objected to Susan dating Billy (Susan and Alison's friendship became damaged). Alison put a wedge between Billy and Susan. After Alison was put in rehab for her drinking, she called Billy to come to a meeting but Susan answered the phone and Susan did not tell Billy about the phone call. When Billy asked Susan about it, Susan said that she grew up with an alcoholic mom and Susan did not think that Alison would change her ways. This situation caused a rift between Billy and Susan. Susan broke up with Billy and Susan moved out of apartment 3. Kimberly (Dr Michael Mancini's ex-wife #3) blew up apartment 3 at the beginning of the fourth season. Alison later moved out to be with her (Alison)'s new husband Hayley Armstrong, so Billy and his new bride (ex-wife #1) Brooke Armstrong Campbell moved in. Brooke is the daughter of Hayley Armstrong (so, Brooke would've been Alison's stepdaughter and Alison would've been Brooke's stepmom). Following Brooke's accidental death, Billy stayed here alone until his new girlfriend-turned-wife (ex-wife #2) Samantha Reilly Campbell moved in with him. Billy eventually left Samantha, and Samantha moved to Tampa, Florida leaving the apartment vacant until Jane moved in during Season 7 to get away from Michael. Jane later moved to the Beach House, leaving apartment #3 vacant for the original Melrose Place series finale.

Apartment 4[]

4

Apartment 4

Floor Plan: C
Bedrooms: 0 at first, then 1
Counters: Blue tiles at first, then brown cover
Cabinets: Covered
Fireplace: Shelves on both sides
Apartment 4 is a studio loft apartment and apartment 4 was empty until Rhonda Blair moved in during Season 1. When Rhonda left the original Melrose Place series, Amanda Woodward bought the building, took the studio loft apartment (apartment 4) and turned apartment 4 into a 1 bedroom apartment. Kimberly blew up apartment 4 at the beginning of the fourth season. Amanda occasionally would move a love interest/longest guests in Amanda's apartment (with Kyle and Peter, who were Amanda's love interests and longest guests), but Amanda would eventually be evicted by the new apartment building landlord Lexi in Season 7. Alison Parker also resided in apartment 4, moving in with Amanda during a brief time in season 5 after Alison left Jake's apartment.

Spin-off: Ella and Lauren are shown to be living in this apartment, which is now located where apartment 1 was in the original series. The interior of this apartment is not consistent with the location of the apartment in the courtyard. In the beginning of season 1, the apartment was brown, but midway through the season, various walls were painted red. The large curtained window technically looks into Violet's apartment.

Apartment 5[]

5

Apartment 5

Floor Plan: B
Bedrooms: 1
Counters: Maroon and blue/green tiles
Cabinets: No cabinets: completely open
Fireplace: Windows on both sides
Jane Andrews Mancini and Dr. Michael Mancini, the series' original married couple, both lived in apartment 5 together until Jane kicked Michael out at the end of Season 1 (Jane and Michael got divorced in the end of the first season). Sydney Andrews Mancini Field (Jane's sister/Michael's ex-wife #2/Michael's ex-sister-in-law) lived here briefly but soon the apartment became a place for Jane and her lovers. When Kimberly (Dr Michael Mancini's ex-wife #3) blew up the other side of the Melrose Place apartment building at the beginning of the fourth season, Jane temporarily took suddenly blind Alison in as her house guest (Alison was blind when Kimberly blew up the other side of the Melrose Place apartment building at the beginning of the fourth season). In Season 5 Jane took Samantha in as a roommate, but Jane left shortly after, leaving Samantha living here alone for a brief period before Sydney moved into Jane's place. When Samantha and Sydney couldn't get along, Samantha moved into apartment 3 with Billy, leaving Sydney to live by herself until Sydney became roommates with her lover Carter Gallavan, who only stayed for a brief time before Sydney and Carter broke up. Sydney then brought in her next lover, Craig Field (Craig became Sydney's husband #2) towards the end of Season 5. Sydney and Craig later got married, but Sydney was struck by a car and presumed dead. Craig became a widower after Sydney died and Craig lived here alone until Craig committed suicide midway through Season 6. Megan moved into the apartment (to get away from Michael) and Coop later moved in until Brett skipped town. It is unknown whether or not Megan stayed in this apartment. Megan marries Ryan McBride at the end of the original Melrose Place series.

Apartment 6[]

6

Apartment 6

Floor Plan: A
Bedrooms: 2
Counters: Maroon and brown tiles
Cabinets: Transparent cabinets
Fireplace: First Windows, then bookshelves on both sides
At the beginning of the series, Rhonda Blair and Sandy Harling occupied apartment 6. Sandy moved to New York and Rhonda allowed Carrie Fellows to move in for a short time before Rhonda relocated to apartment 4, allowing Jo Reynolds to move into apartment 6, briefly taking Jake Hanson in to live with her in apartment 6 as well. With an overlap in episode 13, the apartment had windows on either side of the fireplace until Jo moves in, when the windows magically transformed into bookshelves. Carrie returned later when Rhonda was planning her (Rhonda's) wedding to Terrence Haggard. Terrence was more welcoming than Rhonda so much that Terrence and Rhonda hired Carrie to plan Rhonda and Terrence's wedding. Rhonda was convinced that Carrie was coming after Terrence but Terrence was not interested in Carrie. When Rhonda lived in apartment 4, there were windows on either side of the fireplace, but in the same episode that Jo moves into the original Melrose Place apartment complex, the windows in apartment 4 mysteriously turned into bookshelves. When Kimberly blew up the other side of Melrose Place, Jo temporarily took Matt Fielding in to live with her.

When Jo left town at the end of Season 4, Kyle McBride and Taylor McBride moved into apartment 6 until Kyle McBride and Taylor McBride separated and got divorced. Kyle stayed there alone until he moved in with Amanda, leaving it occupied but unused until Jane Andrews took it for one episode upon her return. Ryan McBride (Kyle McBride's estranged brother/Taylor McBride's ex-brother-in-law) would later move in, and Ryan McBride's daughter Sarah would move into apartment 6. Sarah is Kyle McBride and Taylor McBride's niece (So, Taylor McBride would be Sarah's aunt and Kyle McBride would be Sarah's uncle)

Spin-off: Apartment 6 is located where apartment 5 was in the original series. Violet Foster was shown living here in the spin-off. The interior of this apartment is consistent with the courtyard layout, although the large curtained window would technically look into Ella and Lauren's apartment. Jonah soon moves in after he and Riley break up.

Apartment 7[]

7

Apartment 7

Floor Plan: B
Bedrooms: 1
Counters: Pinkish brown cover
Cabinets: Covered
Fireplace: Shelves on both sides
Sydney (Dr Michael Mancini's ex-wife #2 and Jane Mancini's sister, Dr Michael Mancini's ex-sister-in-law) moved into apartment 7 during Season 2, and shared apartment 7 with Sydney's roommate Ricki Abbott in for a short time, but Kimberly (Dr Michael Mancini's ex-wife #3) moved into apartment 7 in Season 4. Sydney (Dr Michael Mancini's ex-sister-in-law, ex-wife #2 and Jane Mancini's sister) takes the apartment 7 back later in the fourth season. Bobby Perazi moves in with Sydney up until Bobby's death. Sydney moves out during Season 5. Kyle's friend Nick briefly lives in apartment 7 until Jennifer Mancini (Michael Mancini's sister/Jane Mancini's ex-sister-in-law and Sydney Andrews Mancini's ex-sister-in-law) moves in, taking Megan Mancini (Michael's Mancini's ex-wife #4) in as a roommate so that Jennifer could get away from Jennifer's brother, Michael. Billy soon moves into apartment 7 with Jennifer, but Eve Cleary moves into apartment 7 when Jennifer Mancini and Billy Campbell moved to Rome, Italy (It is unknown if Jennifer Mancini and Billy Campbell got married when Jennifer Mancini and Billy Campbell moved to Rome, Italy). Eve left the apartment 7 to live with Peter, and apartment 7 has been vacant ever since.

Spin-off: Riley and Jonah are shown to be living in this apartment in the spin-off, but it is now located on ground level, opposite of the entrance. In the original series, this was simply a gate and a door to the laundry room. The interior of this apartment is painted yellow, and it has french doors that open to a patio in the courtyard.

Apartment 8[]

8

Apartment 8

Floor Plan: A
Bedrooms: 1
Counters: Maroon and blue/green tiles
Cabinets: Covered
Fireplace: Shelves on both sides
Apartment 8 also doesn't match the shape of apartment 7, because apartment 7 would invade its living room with the bedroom. Also the windows and balcony we see on the facade of the building at the entrance of the complex from the street is not shown from the inside of apartment 8. Amanda's handyman, Ted Ramsey, moved into apartment 8 during Season 2, but Ted Ramsey was evicted the following week. Then in Season 3, Billy moved to apartment 8 to get away from Alison (because Alison became an alcoholic and Alison went into rehab for her alcoholic drinking). Susan and Brooke moved (Brooke is Billy's ex-wife #1) in to be with Billy. When Billy, Susan and Brooke left, Alison briefly moved into apartment 8, until Alison moved out of apartment 8 to be with Jake. Craig lived here briefly until Craig moved in to be with Sydney.

Spin-off: Apartments 7 and 8 are the same apartment.

Apartment 9[]

Spin-off: Apartment 9 is located above the entrance where apartment 8 was in the original series. David is currently living here.

While the number plate beside David's door labels this apartment as number nine, Amanda's database lists his (and perhaps this) unit's address as number eleven. Amanda's courtyard blueprint also has David labeled as living in between Auggie and Jonah's apartments on the lower level. This apartment is also inconsistent with the courtyard layout, as it technically extends into Sydney's penthouse.

Apartment 10[]

Spin-off: Apartment 10 is the penthouse, located where apartment 7 was in the original series. Sydney Andrews lived here in the pilot episode. Amanda stayed there when she returned to town. She then briefly moves her at-the-time boyfriend, Ben Brinkley in with her.

Basement[]

Laundry[]

Melrose Place's laundry room is located in the apartment complex's basement.

Workshop[]

Where Jane has her work place for some time and Jake could repair his motorbike, the entrance was supposed to be on the back side, next to apartment 5.
